We’re inspired to tour some new iconic buildings in VR and 3D. You might sense a theme in the location: Munich.
While the focus at vCAD is on architecture, real estate, engineering, design – any industry that benefits from converting CAD models to VR and 3D experiences – we keep a close eye on how other areas utilize VR and 3D, and are cheering on those that use it for good.
This post will be short and sweet, but full of exciting news. The vCAD experience is now available on your iPad with our new app. Now you truly can access the world of 3D and VR from anywhere, at anytime, on any device.
When most people think of ‘virtual reality’ the next thought is often associated with games and gamers. A natural thought process as it’s been a very active and passionate group rallying around VR since the introduction of head mounted displays for gaming in the 1990s. This has magnified in recent years with more headset options and more games for all interests and ages.
This is a friendly PSA to remind users that you do not need a virtual reality headset to immerse yourself in and explore designs with the vCAD app. That’s right, you have a choice in how to step inside and experience a CAD model - as though it was already built.
According to founder, Dr. Lee Martin, interactive visualization puts you in control of what you see and the path you take. It’s not a passive experience (such as watching television) as this is your vision and your path of exploration.
With so many apps and tools out there, it can be confusing and challenging to select the one best for you. VR for professional use (industries at the front of this adaptation include real estate development and architecture) is a relatively new trajectory. Without trial and error, how do you know what functionality is best suited for your needs?
The barrier to use virtual reality keeps getting lower. Stereotypes are fading (VR is not just for gamers with money to burn) and VR is proving to be an asset across many different industries and interest groups. Ask your architect, real estate, engineering, and artist friends (just to name a few) and they will tell you how virtual reality is making an impact on their field.
vCAD lets you and your clients experience designs before they are built – we call this pre-reality! The experience this tool provides elevates the designer-client relationship by improving understanding, communication, clarity, trust, and transparency (just to name a few). As a result, you reach desired goals and project outcomes more easily and efficiently, and everyone is happier.
Virtual reality is a very engaging and immersive experience - often limited to the person wearing the headset. Not the case with vCAD ScreenShare (formerly spectator mode). This functionality allows users to share what they are viewing with a wider audience. vCAD users can turn their phone into a powerful presentation remote control by broadcasting their mobile view. How is this beneficial?
